What no one tells you about motherhood/parenthood...

Its been two months since Hannah was born. At times, it has flown by and other times, it seems like it couldn't have come sooner. There are many people that have asked me if I have enjoyed being a mom, and I had to be honest. I don't always enjoy it. I was thinking the other day, that there are some things that people don't tell you when you are expecting. Maybe they don't remember, or when you are pregnant, maybe you don't care. Some of the things I wish someone would have told me is; one, that its okay to let your baby cry. Once you know that their basic needs are taken care of, there will be times when they just cry, although, any normal healthy baby, should sleep, so maybe my baby isnt normal. Two, its okay to get angry and frustated, its what you do when you get angry; dont do anything that you'll regret is what I have come to learn. Three, sleep and food deprivation. I thought I could tolerate a lack of sleep, but I never comprehended the extent of the lack of sleep, and I have learned that you eat what you can and when you can, because you dont know when your next meal will be. The fourth thing, don't listen too much to what doctors or professionals will tell you. You know your child better than they do. Talk with other moms, they are your best resource. The fifth and most important thing that I learned as a mom, is to trust myself as well as my gut instinct which I fully believe comes from a higher being. The greatest help and advice on how to raise God's children is from God himself. There have been many times, when thoughts "pop" into my mind that relate to taking care of Hannah, and things always work out. How grateful I am for the things I have learned and hope that any one that is planning on being parents, may you realize that being a parent is the greatest challenge you will ever take on in this life, but as they all say, the most rewarding. Here is picture to prove it.

Our little girl is here! Hannah Elisabeth!

Hannah was born on June 26th 2011! I went into labor soon after coming home from church that Sunday and she was born 6 hours later, without any pain meds! My mom and sister Annie were there to help, as well as Daniel. We came home from the hospital 2 days later and are enjoying having her here finally. Here are a few pictures! Enjoy!

Due date!

My due date is next week! I can hardly believe that it is here! I am so glad to almost be done though! I'm excited about taking off work, and just enjoying some time bonding with my little one! Well, like I mentioned earlier in my earlier post, I have been pretty lucky. My health has been fairly good the whole time, and I've only gained about 35 pounds, which to me on my small frame seems like a lot. We have everything we need for when she decides to come! The car seat is ready, we got a stroller, pack and play, moses basket, clothes for a full year, toys, etc. We even got a car seat for when she gets older that someone donated to us. The only thing we need to do is decide what her name will be. Daniel likes one name and I like another name, so I guess we'll just wait til she gets her and then we can see which one fits her better. Well keep everyone posted! Here is recent photo that Daniel took of me! Enjoy!

Family Reunion 2011!

This year we had a reunion with my immediate family at the beach. We rented this really nice house with a heated pool, eight bedrooms, 8 and 2 half bathrooms, plus a pool table, and home theater room for the whole week of April 16-23. It was so nice! Most everyone drove down to the beach on Saturday, daniel and I came later on Monday since we had to work and daniel had school, and Andy and Alex living so close, came to hang out during the day with us when they could. We did lots of fun things. On Monday, the family just enjoyed the beach; Tuesday, we drove over to the Hatteras lighthouse and some of us climbed to the top. Wed, we drove down to the Ocracoke Island and took the ferry while feeding the seagulls. Thurs, we had a another beach day, and Friday, was a easter egg celebration, and girls/guys time, where the guys went to the boat shop near Manteo in the morning and the girls did action photos shots at Jockey's Ridge in the afternoon. We also celebrated Andy and Les's birthdays! All in all, the week was fun. We did get a chance to just enjoy being together! That's the purpose! Here are a few photos! Enjoy!

March Madness! Tiek Style!

We have been up to lots of fun things this month. Daniel and I decided that we needed to make some room in our apartment for baby stuff! So we moved some things around. We took apart our kitchen table, which we hardly eat at anyyway, and moved the couch and tv into its place. Then behind the couch, we put the office desk which now leaves our so called "office" a room for the baby! We also packed up some things that we will not use in the next few months, and when our lease runs out in August of this year, we can move into a bigger place! Hopefully a house! We also had a weekend off together this past month, so in celebration of that as well as Daniel finishing some online classes, we took a trip to Norfolk, VA to see Chesapeake Bay! We had alot of fun! We took of tour of the Boardwalk in Virginia Beach, stayed the night in downtown Norfolk on the Elizabeth River at a Marriot Hotel, and then lost a hubcap on the way to church the next morning! The best part was that we were together and it was a whoping 45 degrees Farenheit! Next month will be even better to look forward to. We have a family reunion at the beach, and a week off work! I cant wait!

Pregnancy Milestone!

Yea! I am now 22 weeks. Its weird to think that I am already halfway. Every one that sees me, says that I am hardly even showing. I am not sure whether to think if that's a good thing or a bad thing. I think I will go with the good thing, being that I feel pretty good as well. :) Looking back in my first trimester, I realize that I had good days and bad days. Some days I didn't want to get out of bed, and/or had a hard time finding something to eat that sounded good and wouldn't make me more sick. I remember getting excited if I could eat more than a piece of bread. What is far more interesting to me as well, is every complaint that most women have had about being pregnant, I have seen in my own so far. I had morning sickness, frequent urination, sore breats, and fatigue. Now that some of that has past, I have really started to enjoy being pregnant a lot more. Although, they say they are some drawbacks in the second trimester as well, which I have also experienced; such as the consitpation, heartburn, and sore feet, back, and hips. Alas, I hear, the good times are yet to come. Overall, I considered myself fairly lucky, for I know that there are women out there who have far more complications than I could ever imagine. Well, just for kicks and giggles, I added two pictures of myself. Enjoy!

Christmas into New Years!

Here are pictures from Christmas and into New Years! Daniel and I had the pure joy of spending Christmas Eve together! We did get to see family some. We spent Christmas Eve with my family and then Christmas morning with Daniel's parents. We both had to work later on Christmas Day, so we made sure to take one extra day off after Christmas to see family, but a good 14 inches of snow came in the day after Christmas, and kept us inside and in our apartment that day . Oh well, the snow eventually melted and we spent a nice New Years Day with family! I am offically ready for 2011 and the changes that lie ahead. I know I say that now. Enjoy the pictures!
